Healthcare- There is a better way
- Healthcare is at a crossroads today. Obamacare is in crisis. On the individual health exchange, premium increases of over 50% are expected in 2017. In Washington we have a stalemate repealing the Affordable Care Act or replacing it with the American Health Care Act.
- Over $150 million dollars of taxpayer money was wasted in 2013 on the rollout of the Maryland Healthcare. We’ve watched insurance premiums skyrocket (not the $2,500 savings implied by Obama), millions lost their doctors (do you remember “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”), while the Democrats in Annapolis and Washington tell us the Affordable Care Act is a resounding success.
- It’s a tax on the young and is projected to cost millions of jobs.
- The Affordable Care Act is anything but affordable. It’s a political statement benefitting a sliver of the public at great cost to the middle class, pushed by those who know better than us how to take care of our families and how to spend our hard earned dollars.
Maryland needs physician leadership in our legislature. We need the knowledge, expertise and leadership gained from decades of experience in medicine to help craft the future of medical care in our state.
You don’t think it is broken? Healthcare is my profession. Our state’s healthcare exchange rollout was acknowledged to be one of the worst in the country. So bad in fact, that after spending $150 million, we abandoned it to use the model from Connecticut, at an additional $50 million cost. Where was our physician leadership?
We have some of the finest hospitals in the world, are we really willing to continue to put medicine and patient care in Maryland at risk by ill considered and ill informed decisions?
